I really enjoyed the Filet Migion..Butter tender and the herbs were such a compliment. The sides were the perfect taste with the beef. I'm not a big vinegar person, however the basil/vinegarette dressing was wonderful!! The staff was the best. Thank-you for a wonderful dinner.

Food = A-, I had the Kobe Diane and I wasn't disappointed, just not fully satisfied - one reviewer said it tasted a bit like powdered gravy mix. It was prepared just how I asked, just didn't taste right somehow. As this is one of the better, if not the best, restaurants in Buque I'll certainly be back. As for the staff... I was greeted quickly, seated quickly and then promptly ignored. In their defense the restaurant was extremely busy, but I did feel that the staff could have done a better job of making me feel welcome; everyone except our waiter that is. Ken, I believe that is his name, is one of those waiters that seems to genuinely care about doing his job! A rare thing these days it seems. He wasn't "T.G.I. Fridays style" over the top on his enthusiasm, but he was very warm and friendly and really made an effort to satisfy my husband's requests. If I have the option I will ask for him again! Lastly, I was surprised with how quickly our drinks came. I had a Long Island iced tea (my favorite drink), and my husband had some red wine that he likes (I'm not into wine at all!) from their large selection; the drinks arrived maybe 5 minutes later at the latest. I joked that we must have been the only customers drinking (though we clearly were not) to have received them so fast. Overall, a very good experience and I would and do recommend it highly!

Here’s my foodie & wine report from our recent experience. We had a great time & will highly recommend Marcello’s to our friends & family! And we will definitely be going back. As a side note: “Chophouse” is kind of a violent sounding name. I think you would do just as well or better dropping “Chophouse” & just sticking with the classy sounding “Marcello’s”. Regarding ambiance I thought it was great & it is nice to have a classy restaurant in ABQ & esp in the NE heights. We won’t be making as many trips out to Prairie Star or Savoy now. Our waiter was very helpful & knowledgeable about the menu items & the wine list; he enhanced our own knowledge & the evening experience. Lastly Kudos to the Chef! We’re glad the food was not overly spicy or salty; and the sauces (which I usually request on-the-side & then never use because I have no confidence in the chef or restaurant as I have found sauces are often misused esp. being too heavy & too spicy & too salty & used to hide a substandard meat/veggie or are out of sync & ruin a good meat/veggie) were light & complimented the specific food item w/out over-powering it. We spent around $200 for dinner for 2 which seems a tad high for NM but not when compared to bigger cosmopolitan cities. Wine: Most of the “by the glass” wines are CA wines so plan on buying a bottle if you want good stuff. Also I didn’t think the list was as extensive as advertised but it was good. Here’s our rating for wines we tried before & during dinner: 1) New Zealand pinot = F (bitter; yucky). 2) CA zin = C (avg; most CA wines remind me of “pop” wine or “fast” wine to go with “fast” food). 3) Italian pinot = B (mama-mia; robust; pretty good). 4) Cote de Rhone = A+ (I’ve never met a French wine I didn’t like & that didn’t taste GREAT so bought the bottle)! Liquors après dinner: me-Godiva chocolate = A+ (first time I had ever tried this drink; delicious; better than Baileys) & hubby-Tawny Port (10yr) = B (not as good as 20yr). Dinner: Hot homemade sweet-onion Bread loaf with real butter = A (delicious; not too strong & oniony). Salads: me-Garden variety salad with small lettuces & wild greens; garlic croutons & house-made dressing = B (good but nothing exceptional-could us inclusion of tomatoes; mushrooms; cucumbers; broccoli; cranberries; walnuts; cheese; etc.; something to make it exceptional; happy that no iceberg lettuce was included in order to cheaply stretch the salad fixings; fresh homemade salad dressings were good & again not too salty); & hubby-Classic Caesar with Garlic Croutons & a Reggiano Parmesan Crisp(which I took & ate half of) = B+ (delicious). Entrees: me-Pan Seared Hawaiian Ahi Tuna(rare) in a light lemon sauce = A+++ (probably the best tuna I have ever had; literally melted-in-your-mouth); & hubby-Range Classic Buffalo Steak(rare) in red wine reduction sauce = A+ (the best he said he has ever eaten). Veggie Sides: we each ordered our own but they are big servings & would each serve 2-3 people so we shared: me-Asparagus sautéed w/garlic; shallots; salt/pepper = A+ (Fresh; tasted like you had just picked them from the garden; small; tender; juicy; delicious); & hubby-Button Mushrooms swimming in a red wine reduction sauce = A+ (rich; juicy; delicious). Dessert: Vanilla Bean Creme Brulee = A+ (creamy custard w/a crunchy caramelized sugar coat that was not burned; delicious); & Chocolate Truffles = A+++ (the best I have ever eaten).

Absolutely wonderful food and service. First time there but certainly not the last. Filet and Lobster, WOW, wish I could have licked the plate !! Some of the best food in Albuquerque. If you have never been, you must go.

The best in the city for any celebration. From the moment the doors are opened for you to you getting to your table. The staff is by far the best and the food speaks for itself. You feel as though you're at "your local cheers" but much more refined. Will always be a loyal customer.
